With a flop or later board the result is exact — every possible runout is enumerated. Preflop, it simulates 100,000 random boards.
A few benchmark matchups cover most table decisions: overpair vs underpair (AA vs KK) is about 82/18. Two overcards vs a pair (AK vs QQ) is the classic coin flip at 46/54. Dominated hands suffer: AK crushes AQ 74/26. A flush draw on the flop arrives about 35% of the time by the river; an open-ended straight draw about 32%.
Knowing your equity at the table is half the job — knowing whether your decisions made money over thousands of hands is the other half. That's what Stacker does: log hands during your session and review every key spot afterward with the built-in replayer.
Equity is your share of the pot if the hand were run to completion many times. If you have 80% equity in a $100 pot, your hand is 'worth' $80 on average. It's the foundation of every profitable decision: comparing your equity to the price you're being offered tells you whether a call is +EV.
On the flop, turn, and river it enumerates every possible remaining board, so the result is mathematically exact. Preflop it runs a 100,000-trial Monte Carlo simulation, accurate to about ±0.2%. The engine is validated against the same evaluation backend that powers the Stacker app's hand replayer.
Pocket aces beat pocket kings roughly 82% of the time preflop (81–82.6% depending on shared suits). Kings win about 17.5%, and ties occur under 0.5% of the time. Load the AA vs KK preset in the calculator to see it live.
Pot odds are the price a call offers you — call amount divided by final pot. Equity is your chance of winning. When your equity exceeds the pot-odds percentage, calling is profitable. Example: facing a pot-sized bet you need 33% equity to call; a flush draw on the flop has about 35%.
